So I wasn’t really aware of how much fun could be had with the original OlliOlli. I picked it up on a sale and it sat on my Vita memory card. Waiting for me to select it’s tiny bubble. But I didnt, that is not until a week and a half ago and my goodness. That game rocks. But this review isn’t for OlliOlli. It’s for OlliOlli 2. Well let’s roll our way on shall we(sorry bad puns are my thing).
Well for starters the level designs are brilliant. I went through a level bringing down some small scores all while thinking “how am I gonna go big?” It doesn’t take long. The game shows you tricks that when done properly within the design bring out huge numbers. The tricktionary will guide you through each trick, but execution is all on you. Nothing is given, even if you think it should’ve been.
I love the 2D gameplay and art style of the game. It pushed my focus on watching how the board spun, flipped and twisted. The animations are beautifully done. I also enjoyed the different level imagery. Giant robots and Aztec ruins.
Overall the game is what you’d expect bigger and better than the original. While some will not enjoy the arcade/high score chasing, I found it engaging to play. My mine gripe with it is I wouldn’t put it down. It distracted me from the task at hand.
I would say pick it up full price, it’s worth it. But if you are a PS Plus subscriber it’s free so definitely get it.
