Batman: Arkham Knight DLC Details Revealed

Last year it was announced that the first piece of DLC we’d receive for Batman: Arkham Knight was going to be a playable Harley Quinn, however the details remained a mystery.

So far, we’ve seen DLC featuring playable characters come in two different forms. With the release of Arkham Asylum we received The Joker, which was only playable in designated challenge maps. The other was with the release of Arkham City where we received Catwoman, who was actually playable in story. She not only featured her own side sequences within the story, but was also able to go anywhere within the city and had her own unique trophies to collect.

We’ve all been wondering in which form we’d receive Harley Quinn, until now… Thanks to an update on Amazon, we can now confirm that she’ll be playable in a unique prequel story experience.

“For the first time in the Arkham series take on the role of Joker’s psychotic side-kick Harley Quinn and wreak havoc inside the Blüdhaven Police Department. With this exclusive Story Pack experience events in the lead-up to Arkham Knight as you infiltrate Blüdhaven to rescue your partner in crime: Poison Ivy. Delve deep into Harley’s demented nature and utilize her devastating baseball bat to smash, crash and bash your way to a friend very much in need.”

The details surrounding the DLC leave me wondering, was Blüdhaven chosen for a reason? Within the DC Universe Blüdhaven was a town that closely resembled Gotham, plagued by poverty and crime. The town first appeared during the Nightwing comic book run of the 90’s, where he was investigating the murder of 21 gang members that washed ashore in Gotham. For a period of time it was also home to Tim Drake (the 3rd Robin), as well as Batgirl, it was also the site of a major attack against Nightwing by the Secret Society of Super Villains. If we take a moment to look outside of the comic book cannon, then we might remember that Blüdhaven has also made a brief appearance in the CW show Arrow.

Again I’m left to wonder, was this location chosen because of its relevance to the set up of Arkham Knight or could it be suggesting what comes afterwards?
