Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always had a bit of a sift spot for the Friday The 13th series. As much as I enjoyed the campy greatness that was the original Friday The 13th, it wasn’t until the ending that I realized how great it really was.
Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp was devised by Wes Keltner, a true fan of the genre and the Friday The 13th franchise, he’s said “This is my love letter to the Friday the 13th film series.” This game promises to capture the essence of the film series and present it in a brand new way, to an entirely new audience. With any luck this will help prove that the slasher/ splatter genre of movies isn’t dead, but very much alive and the audience still craves it…
Summer Camp is the first in a series that pays homage to 1980’s splatter/slasher films…
Mirroring Camp Crystal Lake from the Friday the 13th series, players will try to survive in a camp ground setting. Complete with a lake, cabins, and crazed killer who won’t stop until you die a gruesome death.
- Summer Camp is a third-person, horror, survival game, where players can be a teen counselor or the killer. You don’t have to eat, drink or sleep. Just live. That’s hard enough as it is.
- The entire focus of Summer Camp is multiplayer. It will support 6-8 players in a large, arena style map. Remember, don’t go into the woods, alone. Ever.
- Every aspect of Summer Camp is ripped straight from the VHS era. The visual treatment to the world mimics the artifacts found on VHS tapes of the 80’s. The tracking button helps.
Gun Media has not only assembled a crack team of video game industry veterans, but they’ve also recruited Horror & Slasher movie Icons; Tom Savini (award winning special effects artist, director, & actor), Kane Hodder (stuntman, stunt coordinator, and actor famously known for playing Jason Vorhees and other movie monsters), & Harry Manfredini (known for composing the original Friday The 13th score, along with several other horror movies).
