Last week it was officially announced that Batman: Arkham Knight was going to have a Season Pass option to secure the planned DLC. However this news was received by the community with very mixed feelings, in some cases even harsh criticism, because of the near $40 price point.
WB Games understood that they needed to reveal a bit more information to provide us all with a better understanding of what the Season Pass would actually include.
They provided the below statement and DLC information, via their community forum.
“While the story of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Trilogy will come to a close on June 23rd, we are excited to continue telling stories and delivering more content to explore and play through in the 6 months following the game’s release. We’ll be building more narrative, more missions, more challenges and more characters and vehicles that we want players to experience, even though they didn’t fit into the storyline of Batman: Arkham Knight.”
“We’ve heard from our community that you want more information on what we’ll be delivering in the Season Pass. While we aren’t ready to unveil every aspect of the content we’ll be developing, we would like to share more detail now to give you a better sense of the scope of the Season Pass.”
Batgirl: A Matter of Family

A variety of skins from across the eras for Batman, Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman.
“As we fully ramp up development on the Season Pass, we will be sharing even more details on each monthly content drop. We hope you enjoy playing Batman: Arkham Knight as much as we’ve enjoyed making it.”
I don’t know about you, but this was the information I was looking for. As I’ve said previously, I’m less concerned with alternate skins and more interested in challenge maps and additional story content. By the way it sounds they’ll be providing a wealth of new experiences for us to dive into, in and out of the story.
However from the statement it certainly sounds like this content is being developed by WB Games and not Rocksteady Studios. And if that is the case, I’m fine with it as long as we don’t encounter the same issues that they delivered with Batman: Arkham Origins. However the one thing they proved, beyond a shadow of doubt, with Origins was they could deliver a new and interesting character driven story set within this universe.
Only time will tell exactly how much of the DLC will actually be; challenge maps, story missions, and all new story additions featuring the allies, and how much additional in game play it’ll provide. However I’m super psyched and unless something terrible is revealed between now and June 23rd, I’ll be buying the season pass in addition to the game.
