Magicka 2 out today

Paradox Interactive, a publisher of games with its own casting department, today released Magicka 2 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and for Windows PCs. Magicka 2, a game titled “Mad Magicks: Fury Robe” at one point (but not now), is available to download and play now on both platforms, enabling would-be Wizards everywhere to play alone or in groups through a new adventure with hundreds of spells and zero vampires. The game is available via PlayStation®Network and via digital retailers on PC for $14.99, or in a Deluxe Edition for $19.99, at the game’s website.

A new trailer is available today thanks to the sorcery of images that move right before your very eyes.

“For so many of our fans, Paradox and Magicka are practically synonymous,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive, not a vampire. “Which is strange, because the two words don’t mean the same thing at all, and our company is not populated by terrifying and irresponsible misanthropes who are constantly liquefying each other with fire-infused beams of pure death. However, it is still a wonderful milestone for us all to share the next chapter of our best-selling series with the world, and to publish our first game on the PlayStation 4. Magicka 2 is the perfect game to play together on the couch in front of a big screen, where you’re always within reach of the friend causing all of those friendly-fire ‘accidents.’”

Three versions of Magicka 2 are now available, allowing Wizards to select their desired level of sorcerous style:

● The Magicka 2 Base Game ($14.99 – PC and PS4), which includes the base game, which is intuitive and self-explanatory

● The Magicka 2 Special Edition ($19.99 – PC and PS4), which includes the base game and also:
         ○ The ‘Warlord’ Robe, Sword, and Staff, for Wizards who want to lord their powers over others in a warlike fashion
The ‘Cultist’ Robe, Sword, and Staff, for Wizards who wanted to be ‘occult’ but instead joined ‘a cult’ because they weren’t paying attention
          ○ A unique custom Theme featuring Vlad (PS4 only)

● The Magicka 2 Digital Deluxe Edition ($24.99 – PC only), which still includes the base game plus the two robes in the Special Edition and also:
          ○ A digital interactive map of the realm of Midgård, so Wizards can see where they’ve been and how much of the world is left intact
           ○ The orchestral original soundtrack, which is like magic for your ears

Magicka 2 brings players back to the world’s most irreverent co-op action adventure series, providing all-new game features alongside the original’s iconic spellcasting system, humor, and always-on friendly-fire. Guided by Vlad, up to four Wizards at once can challenge a series of new levels in a co-op campaign, or take on challenge levels for score, prestige, and game-altering ‘artifacts’ that alter Magicka 2 in strange and wonderful ways. The world is invited to put on their robes and wizard hats, invite their friends, and learn to spell all over again.

AirMech Arena: Review

One thing I love is Transformers. While this doesn’t necessarily represent them specifically. It does give the same sort of vibe. You are a pilot of a Mech suit. Each suit takes on some form of flying vehicle. But the question is how good is the game?

Void And Meddler, A Cyberpunk Trip Where False Memories Let You Become You

During the 2014 Point and Click Jam there were a number of exciting entries that were developed and submitted within the tight 15 day window of opportunity. This particular game jam challenged developers to create a point and click adventure game, that met the below requirements.

  • Needed to resemble the graphic style of a game from 80s/90s (LucasArts / Sierra / Delphine etc)
  • must look / sound / feel / play as if it is from a retro system using specific color palettes and needed a resolution of 320 x 200.
  • It could utilize a SCUMM Verb/Object style system, or something of the developers own creation.

void and meddler logoHowever one of the most intriguing entries into the competition was developed by Dorian Sred & Trevor Reveur, Void And Meddler. The duo certainly wasn’t unfamiliar with the tight time constraints posed by the jam setting, they created their first game entitled No Wave in period of 48 hours for the GameDevParty jam6.
