Three Phase Interactive, an indie studio based in Melbourne Australia, have released the first playable preview of their 2D spaceship builder/fighter, Defect: Spaceship Destruction Kit. The preview includes 8 playable missions and around 75 fighter sized ship pieces to construct ships with.
“We’re big fans of sci-fi and construction games, so we’re really excited to be working on our dream project.” said Drew Morrow, lead designer/artist at Three Phase Interactive. “We can’t wait to see what ship designs and ideas players come up with.”
Defect allows the player to build the ultimate ship piece by piece, from the size of a single-pilot fighter to a space station the size of a small moon. Players create devastating spacecraft capable of obliterating their foes, but have to keep in mind that their crew will defect, forcing them to face their own creations in battle. Offering unprecedented freedom of creation, players will build the most powerful ships in the galaxy with an easy to use 2D ship building system. The game will feature hundreds of parts across three stylistic themes referencing sci-fi movies and shows from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. How do you build the perfect ship to complete your objective, but also build in flaws that can be exploited later when your crew inevitably defects?
Exploit your designs: Create the perfect design to complete the mission, but remember to build in a weakness so you can exploit it later when your crew inevitably turns against you.
Unprecedented freedom of creation: Create the most powerful ship in the galaxy piece by piece, with more than 150 parts available, across three stylistic themes referencing a wide range of sci-fi culture, with more to come.
Epic scale: With unlimited combinations available from single-pilot star fighters to battle stations the size of a small moon.
Fight your friend’s ships: Upload your successful ships and take on the best designs the community has to offer.
Cross-platform play: Seamlessly swap your creations between PC, Mac, iPad and Android tablets.
Dynamic Music System: Building your ship defines a musical theme unique to that ship.
Coming soon: An extensive alpha phase planned for PC and Mac, with the full release also arriving on iPad and Android tablets.
