During the 2015 Game Awards, on Thursday night, Telltale Games made an announcement on stage that they’re teaming up with Warner Bros. Interactive and DC Entertainment for a new Interactive episodic game series scheduled to release in 2016.
The teaser does little to reveal any specific details regarding the story that we can expect to see unfold in 2016, however it’s clear that this series is going to give DC Comics’ fans an opportunity see Gotham City through the eyes of Bruce Wayne.
“At Telltale, we’ve been honored to bring our unique approach to interactive storytelling to some of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll soon be exploring what it means to be Batman in an all-new series starting next year,” said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games. “This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”
Whether you’re a long time Batman fan or have only really become a fan in the last few years, with Christopher Nolan’s cinematic take on the Dark Knight or Rocksteady’s Arkham trilogy, I can assure you that Telltale’s series is going to be a first for all of us. Telltale Games has shown an incredibly high degree of care and respect for every property that they’ve brought to life, I think it’s safe to say that the Dark Knight will be safe in their hands.
“Telltale has an established track record of creating award-winning content for some of the best properties in the world,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “We look forward to working with the team as they deliver a new interactive way for fans and gamers to experience the rich narrative world of Batman.”
The yet to be named Batman series will premiere digitally on home consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile devices. Specific platform details have yet to be announced, but we’ll keep you posted.
