Batman: Arkham Knight, The Long Awaited PS4 Review

First off I’d like to apologize that it has taken me so long to get this review together, however as you know I’m not always afforded as much time as I’d like to dig in and play games because everyday life tends to get in the way. And let’s face, it if I was going to review this game it was only going to be after 100% completion of the story and all side quests…

Rocksteady has built such an amazing franchise in the Batman:Arkham series, Arkham Asylum reignited my passion for gaming, Arkham City proved that you could improve upon perfection, and of course while Rocksteady was developing Arkham Knight WB games developed Arkham Origins which wasn’t perfect but they managed to prove they could tell a truly classic Batman story while taking full advantage of the groundwork that Rocksteady developed. Why make mention of any of this, how is this relevant to my review of Batman: Arkham Knight?

It’s simple. Batman: Arkham Knight is the game that I’ve most anticipated for the last few years, it’s the only reason that I stepped out and bought a PS4 when I did. My expectations for this game couldn’t possibly be any higher. The question remains, is it actually possible for Rocksteady to live up to my unrealistic expectations as they deliver their final entry into the Batman: Arkham franchise?

September Looks Like It’s Going To Be A Great Month For Batman: Arkham Knight DLC

Just the other day we received the complete DLC drop for August, which provided the 1989 Batmobile, 2 Racetracks inspired by Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns, and of course the Bat-Family Skin Pack. If you happened to watch the trailer that was released to mark the occasion, then you may have noticed the brief tease at the end of the video.

That’s right, it appears that we’re going to be receiving the Tumbler Batmobile from Christopher Nolan’s 2008 Dark Knight. Even though the design of the Batmobile from Batman: Arkham Knight and Nolan’s trilogy have their similarities, I’d have to imagine that they’re going to be playing up those differences quite a bit. Based on the fact that we received 2 very distinct racetracks inspired by the Tim Burton films, I think it’s pretty safe to assume we’ll be receiving racetracks inspired by the Gotham City that Christopher Nolan brought to life in the Dark Knight trilogy.

Of course this was all speculation, until today… Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have provided us with an overview of what we’ll be able to expect to receive in the month of September. Not only have they confirmed that we will be receiving the Tumbler and 2 themed racetracks, but we’ll also be receiving; another Batman Skin, AR Challenges, and an ingame story mission. There’s no doubt that comic books and pop culture, as a whole, have the unique ability to lure people in and make even the most unlikely of people become the proudest of fanboys/ fangirls. For some of us, our fandom drives us to; read every issue, watch every episode, and immerse ourselves into the community so we can be a part of the conversation.
